Globe TrekkerThe marbled globe had sat on my grandfather's desk since I could still crawl under its wooden canopy and admire the griffined feet. When mom was working night shift at the hospital, I would spend the evening crouched upon that gold-laced carpet, my attention split betwixt grandfather's desk and the old-fashioned oil lamp that sat on the windowsill. Its light formed strange ghosts and shadow framed within the glass panes. I was forewarned of the stern consequences that would occur if a mere breath of mine were to fog the stones forming the wyrd world of the globe. Grandfather himself near never touchGlobe Trekker
